Why PingWho Does Not Import Your Contacts

The short answer

PingWho does not import your contacts because it is not trying to rebuild your address book. It is designed to hold context for the few people you deliberately choose to remember.

This is a product decision, not a missing feature. It gives up automatic network management in exchange for a smaller, local, and more deliberate system.

What contact import is good at

Contact import is useful when you want a complete network from the beginning. Connected products can bring in existing people, reduce manual entry, and keep some details current.

If you manage hundreds of professional relationships or work mainly through LinkedIn, email, and calendars, automatic sync can save a great deal of routine maintenance.

What not importing gives you

A list you chose yourself

PingWho does not request Contacts permission. Every person in the app is someone you deliberately chose to add. There is no imported list to clean up first.

No background contact sync

Products that keep connected accounts current need continuing access. PingWho does not connect to contacts, email, LinkedIn, or a developer account.

Local postcard storage

Postcards stay in the app’s local storage on your iPhone. PingWho has no analytics SDK or advertising SDK collecting their contents.

What you give up

Manual entry takes effort. PingWho will not suggest people from your inbox, import an existing network, or tell you when someone changes jobs.

Local storage also means you are responsible for exporting a backup before changing or losing your phone. Privacy and convenience are a trade-off, not two benefits you receive automatically.

Who PingWho fits

PingWho fits people who meet useful contacts occasionally, prefer choosing entries manually, and want their relationship notes stored locally on one iPhone.

It is especially suited to conferences, client trips, and introductions where only a few conversations deserve a next step.

Who should choose an automatic product instead

Choose a sync-based personal CRM if you want to import a large network, connect email or LinkedIn, receive automatic updates, or use the same records across several devices.

Choose a team CRM if several people need access to the same client history or sales pipeline. PingWho is deliberately not built for either job.

How local storage and export work

Postcards remain in PingWho’s local app storage. There is no PingWho account and no developer-run server holding them.

You can export a file when you want a copy. Keep that file somewhere you control, especially before replacing or resetting your iPhone.
